The European Christian Political Party (ECPP) notes the start of the initial phase of accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova, following the Council’s decision last Friday to open negotiations.

The first cluster focuses on key topics such as the rule of law, human rights, and the judiciary. This is one of six clusters forming part of the accession negotiations.

Valeriu Ghiletchi, ECPP President:

“Starting accession talks with Ukraine and Moldova is recognition of their European aspirations. For the ECPP, it is important that EU membership is based on merit and the fulfilment of accession criteria”.
