ECPP Regrets Absence of the 2026 European Para Athletics Championships

The European Christian Political Party (ECPP) regrets that the 2026 European Para Athletics Championships will not take place, as World Para Athletics was unable to find a host country for the event.

ECPP Regrets Absence of the 2026 European Para Athletics Championships

This is disappointing for athletes, the wider para-sport community and everyone who believes in equal opportunities, inclusion and the dignity of persons with disabilities across Europe.

International para-sport events play a vital role in raising awareness, encouraging participation, and promoting the recognition of people with disabilities in public life. The absence of a host nation for the 2026 Championships undermines the promotion of these values across Europe.

ECPP believes that every life is of immeasurable value. People with disabilities should be able to lead fulfilling and dignified lives. We must continue to work towards a society that fully supports, recognises and empowers persons with disabilities in all areas of life, including education, employment, culture, public participation and sport.

We call upon countries and cities to take responsibility and create opportunities for people with disabilities, including through para-sport events.
