The current term of ECPP President Valeriu Ghileţchi will conclude by October 2025, and the position is open for candidacy. As per the ECPP statutes, Mr. Ghileţchi will stand for re-election for a new term, in accordance with the rules and procedures that govern this position.
However, ECPP members who meet the eligibility criteria are invited to submit their candidacy for the role of ECPP President. This opportunity follows the established protocols to ensure a transparent and democratic election process. The President of ECPP will be elected by the General Assembly in its next meeting in Prague on 13 June, 2025.
Selection Process
The selection process will be led by a selection committee consisting of Karin Heepen (Vice-President ECPP), Inga Bite (President ECPP Advisory Council), David Fieldsend (President Sallux) and Valeriia Petrechkiv (President ECPYouth). The selection committee is assisted by ECPP Director for Political Relations Márton Gyöngyösi. The selection committee may organize online (or, if possible, in person) interviews with candidates before making its recommendations to the Board, ane before presenting the list of candidates to the General Assembly for a vote.

Position of ECPP President
The President serves for a term of four years. The President is the face of the party and represents ECPP in meetings, media, and legal matters. Furthermore, the President chairs ECPP Board meetings and the General Assembly. In ECPP, day-to-day affairs are delegated to the Secretary General, while the role of President is part-time and unpaid.
Criteria and preferred qualifications
ECPP looks for a President that meets the following criteria. The candidate must:
- Be an EU citizen
- Be member of an EU member party, an associated body, or an individual member of ECPP
- Subscribe to the ECPP Identity Declaration
- Be officially supported by an ECPP member party or associate
- Have a clear Christian-democratic profile
- Have (or have had) relevant political experience (elected official at the national or European level)
- Be fluent in English (reading and speaking)
- Be able to participate in ECPP Board meetings and General Assemblies and travel abroad for other events if needed
- Be an active Christian believer who represents ECPP values in both political style and personal lifestyle
- Be familiar with the ECPP Political Program 2024-2029
The following qualifications are preferred:
- Active in ECPP for at least two years
- Experience in (inter)national organizations
- At least five years of political experience
- A team player and bridge-builder with an understanding of cultural and political differences in Europe and among ECPP members
