Valeriu Ghilețchi Re-elected as ECPP President

June 13 – Valeriu Ghilețchi has been re-elected as President of the European Christian Political Party (ECPP) during the 28th ECPP General Assembly, held in Prague, Czechia. ECPP members voted in strong numbers to renew Mr. Ghilețchi’s mandate. With his re-election, he will continue serving as ECPP President until 2029.

“I am grateful for the confidence the members have placed in me to continue as ECPP President for the coming years. It is both a great motivation and a serious responsibility to represent our party and promote Christian values in European politics—particularly by increasing our visibility and political activity,” said Mr. Ghilețchi.

Mr. Ghilețchi first became President of the ECPP (then ECPM) in 2021. His current term was originally set to conclude in October 2025. Under his leadership, the party has grown in size and influence, welcoming new member parties and elected representatives. In the run-up to the 2024 European Parliament elections, Mr. Ghilețchi was appointed Spitzenkandidat and became the first ECPP candidate to participate in the Maastricht Debate—the key platform for European political discourse.

During the assembly, board member and treasurer Jacques Bazen was also re-elected for a new term. Helena Hlubocká was presented to fill the board position vacated by Milan Krajniak, who stepped in to replace Michal Považan, who sadly passed away, for the remainder of his term.

The 28th ECPP General Assembly brought together representatives from across Europe to connect, deliberate, and strengthen the party’s shared vision in Prague, Czechia.
